Deliverables represent an output produced by an Initiative, they can be used on maps and as an item in your workspace with relevant data held on the details screens.

Deliverables have a special feature - they allow you to set when a Deliverable will be available and track progress at a more detailed level if required.

Initially, you can simply represent Deliverables on the map and in your workspace if they are important to discuss and agree to ensure the delivery of your benefits.

They are often most useful when the delivery of benefits may be far off (even years away) but you need to show and manage progress towards benefits in the shorter term. Understanding the steps that will lead to the benefits further down the line and how you are progressing with putting the building blocks in place, is often important in a pragmatic approach to benefits management.

How to use Deliverables as more than part of the narrative on your map

Each Deliverable has a details screen to record key information. This includes standard categories and ownership settings. Most importantly, each Deliverable needs a 'title' and a 'Deliverable available' date captured to use this Deliverable tracking feature.

Even before you have any Initiatives you can define when the deliverable will be available on this screen.

The tracking of deliverables is a practical activity and it can provide a powerful step in encouraging teams to think about benefits in the early days when culturally reporting delivery of assets or projects is the norm. Also in situations where the timing of deliverables are critical to benefits and delaying the timeline will reduce or remove the benefits altogether.

You can also relate the deliverable to the initiative expected to deliver it and set the date you expect the deliverable to be available in one place on Initiatives.

Go to an initiative in your Workspace, Right-click >Manage Relationships.

Here you can create a relationship to show which Deliverables are delivered by any initiative by selecting the relevant Initiative from the drop-down list from +Add Deliverables

It's a very simple process here to set the 'Date Available' and 'Date Needed' for a Deliverable.

Once these few details are set you can always check each Initiative for red flags.

Right click> Manage Relationships > Sort on time Buffer

Wovex automatically flags up any issues where there is not enough Buffer and the Deliverable is likely to put the Benefit at risk.

When there is no Time Buffer ie the difference between the Available date and the Needed date is less than 1 day there will be a red status on the Deliverable.

With advanced use, deliverables can even be tracked like initiatives.

Delivery dates are recorded for audit.
